12-SACD-Set Complete recording Gürzenich-Orchester Köln Capriccio presents a world premiere, the first recording of all 15 symphonies by Dmitri Shostakovich on SACD in 5.1 format. This ambitious project was realised between 2002 and 2004 with the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln under Dmitri Kitajenko. No other conductor is as capable as Dmitri Kitajenko of perpetuating the authentic performance tradition of Shostakovich’s music in the present. With the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Kitajenko had an ensemble which combines brilliance and virtuosity with enthusiasm and passion. The result is a complete benchmark recording in which the use of multi-channel technology brings Shostakovich’s tonal visions to life for the first time ever.
Capriccio präsentiert als Weltpremiere die erste Gesamtaufnahme der 15 Sinfonien von Dmitrij Schostakowitsch auf SACD im 5.1-Format. Dieses ehrgeizige Projekt wurde in den Jahren 2002 bis 2004 mit dem Gürzenich-Orchester Köln unter Dmitrij Kitajenko verwirklicht. Dmitrij Kitajenko ist wie kein anderer Dirigent in der Lage, die authentische Aufführungstradition der Musik von Schostakowitsch in der Gegenwart fortzusetzen. Mit dem Gürzenich-Orchester Köln stand Kitajenko ein Klangkörper zur Verfügung, der Brillanz und Virtuositaät mit Enthusiasmus und Leidenschaft verbindet. So liegt hier eine maßstabsetzende Gesamteinspielung vor, die durch die Mehrkanaltechnik Schostakowitschs Klangvisionen erstmals Realität werden lässt.
